Bathroom Re-do

I recently added molding and painted the upstairs kids bathroom. Some of these pictures are a little dark but hopefully you will get the idea. It looks a lot better than it did.

BEFORE
Here is a "before" picture of the girl's vanity.

The boy's side of the bathroom "before", complete with dirty laundry on the floor and all.

AFTER
The color isn't very good in this picture because I had to turn off the flash or it glared off the mirror. I put molding about 3/5ths of the way up the wall and painted everything above it a fun bamboo green. Then I painted the molding and wall below it high-gloss, bright white.

The color is a little better in this picture. I put up hooks instead of the towel bar. It is a lot easier for the kids to hang their towels on hooks. But somehow the towels still seem to like the floors of their bedrooms.
I would like to fix the countertop but that is part of a longer term budget. What do you think about blackish countertops? Or how about pain white?

Apie, that looks fantastic! now I want to do that to my bathroom! It makes the bathroom look tall. I don't know which counter tops you should go with, I think they would both go well.

I learned long ago to avoid very dark and very light. They show up more problems than a medium value. Think about it. Very dark shows the soap skum and very light shows all the stains.

Seriously, I should just consult with you and Catherine and Paula when I'm ready to update. If you want my opinion I think stone tends to go spotty around high water areas. Laminate or corian seem to last and laminate is just so cheap and easy to replace when you're tired off it. The island in our home was about 300 hundred in laminate and would have been over 2K in corian.

The molding! I would never have even thought of molding. I really like it though - it makes it so the green isn't too overwhelming. And I think either a black or white would be very visually stunning. From the last home tour with brooke - I think she would approve of the black. Maybe an antiqued black wouldn't show the mess as much. But whatever - you'll just paint some more! :)
